Our Successes

The name “Northern Neighbors” is synonymous with fun community events that build community and give folks an opportunity to make a positive difference! Here are a few examples

Last fall, Northern Neighbors threw a Party On Green, a massive block party featuring live music, dancing, games for kids and more! Special guests included the San Francisco Fire Department, SF Bicycle Coalition, and Senator Scott Wiener. This event was made possible by District 2 Supervisor Catherine Stefani, Neighborfest, and Nick Josefowitz, with support from Jane on Fillmore, Avotoasty, Luke’s Local, and The Italian Homemade Company.

Community Success

Northern Neighbors encourages community members to make their voices heard. Examples:

Public comment helping secure approval for 700+ units of housing, including affordable senior housing, at 3333 California St

Successful email campaign to approve ten townhomes suitable for families and below the average cost

Email campaign to help affirm Lake St as a pedestrian- and cyclist- prioritized street

Neighborhood volunteers in Allyne Park just before going forth to clean neighborhood streets

Last month’s group of eager clean-up folks looked ready to go out and tackle the trash on the streets! Held on the last Saturday of each month in conjunction with Pacific Heights Residents Association and Refuse Refuse: our popular Neighborhood Cleanups are a great way to start your weekend with exercise, new friends, and contributing to the neighborhood.

In March, 20-year resident Jack Ryder led us on a fascinating architectural history tour around Lafayette Park. The event kicked off with pizza at the storied C.A. Belden House, thanks to the generous welcome of owner John Newmeyer.
